ASP.NET now includes a fully-supported cross-browser, cross-platform AJAX functionality with this free download.
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/200...0-released.aspx Aside from the library there is also the 30+ free web controls for AJAX in ASP.NET that you can demo at http://ajax.asp.net/ajaxtoolkit/ Yet another thing to spend my time messing with... |

Those samples are amazing.
I seriously need to 'up' programming skills and jump on this Ajax bandwagon! |

It's pretty cool stuff when used the right way. Certainly brings web interfaces closer to regular program GUIs. MS has another new technology they're working on that will give you full (even 3D) UIs for your web projects. It's a little like Flex if you're familiar with that.
It's called the WPF/E (for now) and you can read up on it some here: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/200...-wpf-e-ctp.aspx and try some demos out with a small browser plugin. It's the next step up from AJAX. |

I've got it installed and will be using it in one of my current projects. Install was easy and adding it to existing projects is just a little copy and paste. I'll report back once I've used it.

With ASP.NET AJAX you can:
* Create next-generation interfaces with reusable AJAX components. * Enhance existing pages using powerful AJAX controls with support for all modern browsers. * Access remote services and data from the browser without tons of complicated script. * Take advantage of the improved efficiency and ease of use in Visual Studio 2008, with its built-in support for ASP.NET AJAX, improved JavaScript support, and a new Web page designer interface. -------------------- |
