Aha, I must have looked at the wrong site. Anyway, those domain names at 123-reg.co.uk are hella expensive. ~15 dollars per year for a domain name???!?!? That's like double the price of other registrars.... the site looks good though! Hehe yeh it is quite expensive. But i prefer a good uk company who isnt going to go anywhere. And saving a few pounds a year on a domain is nothing -------------------- |

Meh, I've had a Hawk Host account since yesterday evening and I'm just not too satisfied as I would have expected...
If I could only have the features and control panel of mediatemple merged with the prices of Hawk Host -------------------- ![]() |

And what's up with that: http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/9500/screeny1nt1.png ?? They're advertising with models, like what the fudge has that got to do with domain names?!?? Please tell me if there is a good domain registrar that looks a bit more serious... lol! I know.. GoDaddy's prices are pretty good, but when you actually have to use their control panel it's best to memorize where to look on the page and just get in and back out as quickly as possible -------------------- |

Well yeah, and the site seems to be unavailable quite frequently (lately, at least)...
So I've contacted eNom and asked them to recommend me a service/package that best matches what I need. They recommended BulkRegister.com (which is obviously run by the same company too) which is a little less business-oriented ("smaller business"). However, I'm still not sure if this is what I want. I'll have to read reviews and maybe continue keeping my eyes peeled for alternatives. I'd still appreciate more ideas/recommendations from you guys here... -------------------- ![]() |

My domains come from 1and1.co.uk and I've not had any problems with them.

Well, seems that their .com domains are also £8.99 just like 123-reg.co.uk and in that case I would go with 123-reg because their site just looks a lot better.
But thank you for your input, more please! And by the way, please tell me about this: Can I have subdomains and manage forwarding, masking, etc. beyond a registrar's limitations if the web host offers it? Because everywhere I look, both registrars and web hosts seem to offer the same domain name services/features, so I'm not sure if each can work independently of the other if, for example, I get a cheap domain registrar account that allows a maximum of 5 subdomains, but my web host allows an unlimited amount... am I limited to 5 or unlimited now?? Oh, and BulkRegister.com has a $99 dollar membership fee per year. I don't remember that with Wild West Domains (back when I was a freewebser) and neither with BlueHost (although I was hosted there too...). So that aint regular, right? Does 123-reg.com cost $99 dollars a year for just being a member? I only want to pay the domain prices, no more... if that's possible. So I guess I'll end up at 123-reg.com and just pay a few euros more for my domain names The only other thing about 123-reg.com that's leaving a negative impression on me is that I can't seem to contact them unless I'm already a member... all the "Contact us" links I could find create a popup asking me for my username and password. Yes you can, when you buy the domain from the registrar such as 123reg, the name servers all point to 123regs nameservers. If you leave it like this you can do all the usual, forwarding, email forwarding etc.
But if you then edit the name servers as most people do. To point it to your webhost, those services no longer take effect. And you then use your webhosts options for forwarding etc. So no conflict happens. I dont pay any sort of contract fees for 123 reg. I pay for the domains thats it. You can add hosting etc onto those domains but i dont use any of it. -------------------- |

Okay, you're really making me excited about 123-reg now! Sounds like I've found my registrar, but what's up with the support? Why is it (seemingly) only available to members? Have you ever needed support from them, and was it friendly/personal/good?

True
I have decided to cancel my account at Hawk Host, I'm just not happy enough with the way the site's structured and the customer support. So I'll stick with Blue Host a little longer and maybe try out Host Gator... One more thing, I forgot to check that earlier (and I'm busy right now) but is it possible to point my domain to a specific IP address with 123-reg? -------------------- ![]() |

We use:
* Cheap and not critical - Dreamhost [get what you pay for. no complaints] * Critical - Media Temple Domains - GoDaddy, though Yahoo would be the 2nd choice. -------------------- |

From 123 reg control panel:
QUOTE If you wish to use nameservers within the domain yourdomain.co.uk, do not enter an IP address into the boxes below. Instead enter the name of your nameserver (e.g. ns.yourdomain.co.uk). You will be prompted for an IP address once you click Change Nameservers.
