Quick question, does anyone know of/own top hosting companies that do good deals at affordable prices?
As well as domains, where would be the most reliable place to purchase one and where did you guys decide to get yours from? This info would help a great deal as i'm looking into it and want to know your views. Cheers. -------------------- Everyone likes chicken, if they dont they should.

GoDaddy.com is where I get all my own domains - I've loved them for 5+ years now.
As for hosting, I have my own VPS... which is a long story in and of itself. -------------------- |

I use GoDaddy too. There's a lot of upselling crap on their website that you have to ignore, but otherwise their prices are good and they have good administration tools. If you do a web search for 'godaddy coupons' you'll always find at least a 10% off if not better checkout code.
For hosting you'd need to specify what you're looking for. I have my own server now but I used webhost4life.com for a long time and was generally happy. DiscountASP is supposed to be great. Maybe checkout hostmysite.com too , they have linux and win hosting from cheap shared all the way to full dedicated. |

Hosting wise anything with an easy to use Cpanel would be fine for me. Umm wouldn't need that much space or bandwith really just a decent amount. Possibly one that offers emails (i dont know if all or any do this is my inexperienced mind coming in). Might share with my mate and ask what he wants also as he's a major programmer and is just insane but still he might need linux as you say or whatever.

I use bluehost and am quite happy with them. Apparently they've been around for like 12 years, and when searching around for stuff about them on the net, I didn't really find anything bad. I did have one problem for a couple hours last month at some really bad timing, but it was only that one time, and all my other dealings with them have been good.
Its pretty cheap (I think 7.95/month American), and I get 300 gigs of storage and 3 terabytes of bandwidth - not that I need anything even remotely close to that at all (I dont even think I used 1/10000th of it!). -------------------- |

That is alot of space and bandwith for such a low price. Is there any catch?

That is alot of space and bandwith for such a low price. Is there any catch? Well, be careful of hosts that grossly oversell. If a moderate percentage of their clients use a larger piece of the space than the host expects, then the host can go bankrupt. If you don't need 300GB, probably best going with a host that provides a smaller amount of space. -------------------- |

I had the same worries, but after reading around on the net about them, they sound pretty safe. Twelve years is a long time when a lot of other companies have gone bankrupt in the meantime.
They also just keep adding new services and servers and stuff. I'm constantly getting mails telling me about their new updates to the system etc. No catch as far as I can tell - Ive been using them for a year and a half, and like I say, I only ever had the one problem, which was bad timing as much as anything. -------------------- |

I currently run 8 websites and register all my domains through SSLcatacombNetworking.com and host on Host Gator. They are both cheap and never had a problem with either one of them. I've been using them for the past 3 years. Host Gator also offers reseller accounts if you want to host your clients websites.
