It seems every time I come to the site, I have to supply my login credentials again and again.

Is anyone else having the same trouble I am?

Not everytime, but once in a while I have to re-login.

No I am pretty sure it isn't the browser, I'll check though. I come here from my laptop and from work. I'll watch it more closely and report during the work week what it happening. All I know is it is getting annoying having to supply my login credentials anytime I check the "remember me" button. I wonder if you login from two places (here and work) the forum can't "remember" two places. I don't know... let the "research/study" begin.

sidenote: it isn't every time, as I didn't have to this time.

I had to re-log-in yesterday
but i assumed that that was because i moved home from uni for easter and so i guess that means my IP address changed? (correct me if im wrong, i dont understand these things! :P)
Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it's own.

It makes me wonder if IPB uses some form of login hash in the cookie that is generated every time. So, logging in at work will change the hash in comparison with the one in the cookie at work..o...

Again, it could be a IP issue ineke, im going to dig through the login script and see what exactly it does to determine any possible people may be having..

Ah yes. Interesting. I've been changing my router around lately so maybe that has something to do with it. I know that vBulletin creates session and ID hashes that involve the IP address, browser user agents, and a few other things so maybe it's similar.

When I came here from work - I had to log in again. I'll check when I get home. My bet is that I can't log in and stay "logged in" from two seperate IP addresses.

Stay tuned for the verdict.

Yup, I'm pretty sure this is the case. I believe IPB generates a hash from various details, such as your ip, username, etc, and if one of those things changes, the hash changes, so it assumes you need to log in again.

If you're sure your environment is secure, then get your browser to remember your username and password.
QUOTE(benbramz @ Aug 17 2007, 07:44 AM) Ive noticed that quite a few people are now adding quotes from the board into their signature. I think its started an new web-radiance craze.. :P

That's just it, I have both of them "remembering" and from what I've tested so far it is only when I log in from two places the "site" breaks and can't allow or doesn't allow two logins being remembered. Although until recently, that hasn't been a problem. I guess it could be IE7 here (which has been flaky) and more an issue of that.

More testing to come.

i think karl meant remember as in remember the form entries, so you dont have to type them. just hit login..

I do have that too, but it makes checking for new posts "at-a-glance" more difficult. I mean afterall I then have to hit the login button, one whole extra step ! ;)
