What is an answerable topic?
An answerable topic is just like a normal topic, but where you've specifically asked a question you'd like answered. This could be a simple question such as 'How do I open a new window?'.

When should I use the answerable topic feature?
Bear in mind that answerable topics need to have fairly clear answers, so they're not well suited to a discussion. Try to avoid open-ended questions that will involve opinion and can't actually be factually answered. For example, the question 'What's better, PHP or ASP?' is not a question that has a concrete answer and is therefore based on opinion.

What if there's more than one correct answer to my question?
It's possible that there could be, which is fine. For example, when it comes to opening a new window you can change the target on your anchor tag, or you can use Javascript. One isn't necessarily better than the other, as it depends on what you're trying to achieve when you open the new window.

However, bear in mind that you can only set one post in the topic as the answer, so choose wisely. If you're not sure then ask a member of Webradiance staff.

How do I create an answerable topic?
Simply tick the 'Answerable' Topic tick box when you create your topic. Everything else in the topic should be normal. People will reply to your topic normally too. When someone posts an answer to your question that meets your satisfaction, then set that post to be the answer.

How do I set an answer?
Simply click on Posted Image for the correct post. This will take you to another page so that you can post your comments about the answer. Once you've posted your comments the topic will be locked and set to 'answered'.

What if I find the answer myself?
If you manage to work out the answer or find it elsewhere, then let us know! This way other people with the same problem in future will know the solution. Simply go to the topic and 'Click here to tell us!', in the box that appears at the bottom. Simply enter the answer you found on the next page and then the topic will be closed and set to 'answered'.

What happens if an answer isn't found?
If an answer isn't found then a member of Webradiance staff will probably come to the thread and ask if anyone has an answer, or if the topic starter has more information on the question. If an answerable topic isn't answered after seven days then it'll revert back to being a normal topic. You can always change it back to being answerable by editing the first post in the topic and ticking the 'Answerable topic' checkbox again.

Any more questions? Why not create a new topic to ask us?
