I have had this problem from today.

I noticed on one of the sites i have done that there are several files missing Image and Documents. I tried and tried to place files from my local onto the remote but the file size states 0bytes on several files.

I then deleted the entire site (remote) then uploaded the local site that works perfect on my system. When i inspect the remote files several are 0bytes.

Anyone with ideas on how to fix this as its for a clients site.

Cheers

Steven

this problem due to FTP connection. First change FTP mode. then use best FTP client SW like filezilla, ws ftp or cute FTP.

Also check if they're being transferred appropriately - ASCII or binary.

If you have a temporary transfer queuing area in your 'ftp' window, you may want to place files for transfer in there and then drag-n-drop them to your server location. What this does is it holds the files you are trying to upload in queue so that they can upload in pieces, which is perfectly normal. No file ever transfers in one gulp, unless it's really small. A good indicator that you're having a queuing problem is in fact the 0 bites file size. Almost every transfer will 'hiccup' in the beginning. If you have not yet set your 'ftp' to queue automatically, the upload will simply finish upon the 'hiccup' without actually transferring anything but the file name and the 0-bite read.

If you have a queuing area, tried it, and the problem remains, you may want to consult the help forum for your particular 'ftp' program. If the program is not well supported in this fashion, change programs. I recommend 'Smartftp'. It's popular, cheap, well supported with forums and patches (when necessary), and, as far as I have ever noticed, a decent product (I think they're still running some sort of free trial, as well).

Good luck, friend,
The Lion.

Let us know how things work out so that the thread can die if you're good to go. Also, I'm currently looking for custom web design junkies interested in selling their prefab works on my site. If anyone is interested, please contact me. It pays well if the work is tight.

Cheers The Lion. I understand you well and come to the conclusion that there was a queuing problem. Cleared this up tried a file one by one and all is well. Back to normal now. I use dreamweaver FTP by the way if anyone knows how to setup a queuing area.
