WebRadiance had a bit of a foul turn over the weekend, but we've nursed it back to health and have returned. I hope you didn't miss us too much!

So what happened? Well... actually, I have no idea. Somehow, all of the auto increment flags on the database tables vanished, reducing the website to a snivelling wreck. It doesn't appear that anyone was performing maintenance or that we were hacked because, as you can see, everything is still here. This could simply be one of those strange problems with no apparent cause. If anyone has a convincing theory about how it could have happened then I'd love to hear it because I'm out of ideas!

As always, if you spot any problems then please don't hesitate to let someone from the Admin team know.

Oh, and I'd be interested to hear how you would have fixed the problem? Answers on a postcard please...

Usually we have backups, but seeing as we just transferred to a new host, I haven't yet updated the backup script. And even if we did have a backup, a backup can only be taken so often and we could still have lost a few hours of activity on the website. Obviously, I didn't restore a backup. Any more ideas?

Glad to have :wr: back. I was on just before it was taken down for maintenance. I started a thread which understandably is not around. It was after posting that I noticed something wasn't right because although I could see that it did post I could not get in. The next thing I saw a little later was the maintenance notice. Anyways glad to be back :).

Glad you guys got it up and going again!

Except I was trying to post in the "a game" thread before the crash and couldn't do it. Now that thread is locked!

That was me, sorry, i'll unlock it now.

There was an issue with inekes post not being assigned the id. I didn't realise the issue was database-wide at that time.

It may not have exported if it didn't have an id?

no, the thread is still there, i just had to delete inekes post (as it didnt have an id) so it thinks the thread is old, and thus has dropped down a few pages. Just make a search for it.
