I would like to use XSPF Web Music Player: http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/
I would like to be able to have links from my html page change the track on the player without reloading the page.
I dont see any numeration to the tracks on the example xspf playlist syntax I have seen.
Would I be better off trying to use a custom xml doc as the playlist, (which might mean using a different player)?
Also I am not sure what the actual code for the html link would be to change variables in a flash document?
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

You can, I believe, use Javascript to control a Flash file, but the flash has to be written to take account of this control - you can't just randomly control any flash out there.
I think a better question is why do you want to control the flash player from HTML? Instead of just requiring the user to have Flash, you're now requiring the user to have Javascript too and you're potentially going to be showing two sets of controls on the same screen. Isn't that going to be confusing?
As for numbering the tracks - they're probably loaded in order - isn't that acceptable?

I assumed I would have to add a listener event in the actionscript of the flash. I was hoping you could be specific and tell me which AS listener to use and maybe show me an example. I also assumed the javascript would be unobtrusive. I know firefox doesnt block it by default. I have found vague tutorials that mentioned the name of the javascript, I hoped someone here could better explain it for me.
reason for this:
I will have a flash mp3 player in the upper corner of the page. There will be links in the body of the page that I would like to have the mp3 player interpret and go to a specific song. Thus why I would have to have the tracks of the xml playlist file enumerated.

I have done any Flash for a few years unfortunately. There's a tutorial here which should be useful, even if it is a little out of date.
Obviously if anyone else knows Flash then they might give you a hand too.

Javascript is what you actually need. Using flash might just make your website load slower.
