Hey,

I've always found the best way to learn is to dive straight in, roll around in the code for a while, testing and trying new things. You can't go wrong with w3schools like sypher said for referencing and making sure you're on the right track.

I know people learn in different ways, but something i tried when i was first learning and had a spare half hour, was to find a nice XHTML layout and try to copy it. That way you can learn from what other developers do by looking at the code, maybe validate the pages first to see if they are cowboys though, haha.
