Hi all,

I have been looking at the following effect.

http://extensions.jo...ns/4415/details

I would like to put something like this on my own website, but it must be coded so as to properly validate as xhtml.

Can anyone tell me whether this effect will run on a standard xhtml/css based website, or whether it will only work on what they call Joomla. More to the point, what is Joomla, as I am not familiar with it. What is the difference between Joomla and standard xhtml sites?

Can anyone tell me if I can get a similar effect such as the one I have mentioned above, only in javascript, and as freeware that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg?

There's loads of jQuery scripts that do that. Free and standards compliant.

For example:
http://www.gmarwaha..../jcarousellite/
http://reindel.com/a...ble_news_slider
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17...ntentglider.htm
http://www.gimiti.co...wordpress/?p=46
http://sorgalla.com/jcarousel/

Oh, and Joomla is a community platform/content management system.

Thankyou for the information. The very first one I looked at was just what I'd been looking for, and also there are some great variations with custom effects in the final link you suggested. So, full marks on that!
