Hi. I hope someone might be able to help me with a problem I am having relating to a .swf file.

The swf file in question contains a flash movie introduction to a website of mine and has embedded the url that a viewer should automatically be transferred to at the end of the intro. I now need to change the transfer url and I don't still have the editable file.

I've spent ages looking on the web for some software that might help to put back together the editable source code to the movie, and have downloaded a few suposedly free programs.

To be honest, I can't make head nor tail of how to work most of the downloaded software, and am pretty certain that the majority won't even allow me to do what I need to do without upgrading to the fully paid version, which is not worth my while, as I only need to change one url.

Can anyone suggest any software that will quite simply open my existing .swf file, convert it into a simple to understand editable text file, and then allow me to easily save it and convert back into a new .swf file including my changed url?

If anyone is able to help, I'd be ever so grateful, as I've been scratching my head on this one for days.

Yeah, the best that I can suggest would be to put a redirect at the old URL to your new one, thus not needing to mess with the swf at all. It sucks, but not having the .fla file is a big deal.

Without the .fla file I don't think there is much you can do.
As understand it, its like downloading a .swf movie and trying to get inside it.
I guess there is no way of making another intro/divert to your site ?

there's no way you can edit an .swf file if the .fla file does not exist.. there is no reverse engineering or whatever that is applicable in this case.. once the .fla file is gone, the .swf will never be edited..
