Ok the way i have my navgation set up is with a flash bar. Divided into sections and sub sections. When you select a section it takes yo to the section index and shows available links for that section in the same flash bar. So i need the flash bar to stay always. How ever i dont really want to use an iFrame which it seems i may have to do. Is there another way to make it work like this?

So is the problem that every time a new page loads the navigation goes back to the beginning and doesn't match up with the page you're on?
That was the only reason I could think of to not just put the nav on every page like usual.

I'm a little confused. As of now, when you go into a section of your web site, the flash navigation changes to show you the links only within that section? Am I right?
And, you're wanting the navigation to not do this, but instead stay the same as it was on the home page?

I think what you're saying is, the navigation has different sub sections for each page, but every time you change the page the navigation returns to it's "home page" state?
If this is the case, could you not pass the flash a variable from the html telling what page it is on, and have it show the navigation for that page?

Yeah, that was going to be my suggestion. A little actionscript in Flash will take care of it, might not even need to pass anything to it.

You could also, alternatively, set a 'Flash Cookie' just before the URL is actioned, which lets Flash remember which frame of your menu animation it's on.
That would at least be confined to Flash and wouldn't involve any server side scripting, but you need to do some Actionscript instead!

No, the flash banner is fine. I just dont want to use an iframe and want to know of an alternate to an iFrame that i target with Action Script

mike, i think your confused.
sirkent means using a flash cookie on the nav, which when you open the new page as normal, it opens the sublinks for that page (as the corect frame number will be stored in the flash cookie...)
