Forms make the Web a two-way street, with users taking the wheel in both the inbound and outbound lanes as consumers of and contributors to the information and services on the Web. With good design, users are able to navigate the road to success without encountering bumps or roadblocks along the way that make it difficult or impossible to complete their tasks. In the case of form design, the designer’s role is to clear the way so that users can be successful with form completion and submission. With a variety of form elements on hand to collect information from users, designers need to know how to choose the right tool for the job.
