Have noticed that if you post to thread, and the last poster was you, it will combine the two posts together, and class it as an edit.

Very good for non-spam/post-upkeep(?!) , but can sometimes take the meaning of a message out of context. Say if I had asked a question about He-Man, then I met He-man five minutes later, so I then went and posted that I met He-Man, - the posts would be merged, rendering the post a waste of time rather than entertainment/debate.

I would rather see individual posts between that person, if just for comedy self depreciation/mistakes etc

I'm sure that is possible, and I also believe that this "feature" was recently implemented in one of the recent versions of IPB 2.0. I personally don't believe we've discussed a change of any sort to this feature, but if it bothers a majority of us, then I'm sure you can consider it gone :drunk:

Personally if I try to code while Posted Image, half of it ends up as // TODO: Find out why this doesn't work or // TODO: Insert boring complicated math here

I also think this 'feature' should be disabled; it's not like we have a lot of people randomly spamming here ^_^

Alrighty, a little later today, I'll talk to our resident modifying genius to see if it is possible, then I'll put up a poll and have us all vote on it.

Dear modifying genius, if you see this post, feel free to answer the question in a reply if I haven't yet talked to you on IM.

IPB will only combine posts if they're made within 10 minutes (I think it's 10). This means that if you've come back to a topic some time later and have something else to add or have come up with a solution, etc, then your new reply will be a new post.

We can disable this option altogether in the Admin Panel, but so far it hasn't been a problem and people don't seem to mind it.

Ok, so it is time-based. That is good to know!

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it's own.

Ha, you're seriously well informed. I barely knew about it until this thread, and I'm part owner!

it is a spam feature, and does have a set time limit to specify. If its an issue for members we can reduce the time of the posting limit..

I understand that, but on the other hand I like it too -- cause sometimes I'm too lazy to edit the post, and append new info to it. Again, I'm conflicted.
