I have no clue the actual terminology I want to spit out here, so I'll just describe it.

It would be nice when someone edited a post of theirs it would mark that post as 'new/unread'. And somehow convey that to the reader so that when they go to a post marked new, scroll down to the bottom and see no additional reply (after theirs or after the one they've already read) they dont wonder whats up.

Thoughts?

Well, this would really be something we'd have to put to IPB, as it's getting down to real default forum behaviour.

IMO it doesn't happen very often, but I can see why it would be useful.

I agree is there a way that can be done.

At least my explanation makes sense.

That has also always been a little pet peeve of mine. When I update my post, the forum doesn't inform the readers in anyway unless they look at the post itself, again, for some unknown reason.

Actions that could happen are: the WR logo could be changed to the "unread" graphic currently used when a new post is made, or even the thread could be bumped back to the top of the forum list (also like a new post).

So essentially, your asking for topic Bump?

i dont think it would be *too* hard. remember, Topics with Polls get bumped on a new vote, so the ability is there im sure. The you get issues with people abusing the system, editing and editing over and over again to keep their post bumped.. where do you draw the line? when is a bump enough?

if there is enough interest, i can look at the possibly of this mod..

I still think we should take this up with IPB first. There is probably a good reason why this behaviour isn't standard because I also think it would be trivially easy to do.

I think it would be nice, but perhaps you should add the option of having it do that when you edit it. If I'm fixing a grammatical error, it shouldn't bump it. A nice checkbox would do the trick ;)

This feature, with the option you've suggested here, is getting some attention in Admin World. Stay tuned!
